I kinda wonder if this is what it looks like right before he goes climbing or slinging up the side of a building. This is Broadway Plaza in Wichita, Ks.

Found this abandoned farmstead while doing some pheasant hunting. Hope you like! If you want to see it in black and white, click on the picture and it will take you to a page with a link for the black and white version.

Wisdom in those Eyes
This is my great uncle Eugene. Born, raised and lived his life farming in NorthWest Kansas has made him very wise. He doesn't pull punches, he will tell you what he thinks but he is also one of the orneriest people that I know. This is a snapshot turned portrait I took this past deer season. He was born in the midst of the depression to a family of 16 kids (9 boys and 7 girls). I have had many a memorable visit to his farm.

Porch Pumpkins
This is the final result of a couple hours of work I undertook with the 4 oldest girls. Dawn and Addie went shopping and I got to slice open 3 pumpkins (1 had gone rotten) and supervise the gutting of the pumpkins. We drew faces on them and cut them. Mary (10.5 now) wanted to carve the face of one while I worked on another and I didn't let her. However, she is getting old enough that with some supervision she will be carving one next year. I have some more pictures to put up from the carving and 1 other picture of the finished product that just has the glowing cutouts but no glowing pumpkins. Hope everyone had a great All Hallows and remembered their loved ones on All Souls.

Quote of the day
I place economy among the first and most important virtues, and public debt as the greatest of dangers to be feared. To preserve our independence, we must not let our rulers load us with perpetual debt. If we run into such debts, we must be taxed in our meat and drink, in our necessities and in our comforts, in our labor and in our amusements. If we can prevent the government from wasting the labor of the people, under the pretense of caring for them, they will be happy.
- Thomas Jefferson
Not only is this a quote of the day, it is something that makes you go hmmmmm.

In the Line of Duty
Today I have the honor of going to the Funeral of a man who sacrificed his life for his community. He got up every morning and went out the door to serve no matter what the call for help was. This past Monday he paid the ultimate sacrifice, In the Line of Duty.

Young Love
We stopped at Swenson Park in Lindsborg for a picnic while camping just outside of town. My godson and daughter hit it off. So sweet and so innocent.

Sunlight dripping off a sunflower
Taken in the sunset, slight bit of water dripping off the bottom with some backlight. Some things just catch your eye as you walk past them.

A first attempt at action shots, this is obviously a combination of 3 shots in a series.
